Green Lake, Washington Surprise Proposal

When Campbell came to me and said “Kayley I have to tell you something…” I responded excitedly with “did you listen to that podcast?” Hahah obviously we were on two completely different pages.

He told me how he could’t wait to ask Karina to marry him; so much so that he would’ve asked her in my living room later that night… while we played Settlers of Catan. It really would’ve been so ironic considering how much tension that one game can bring to relationships.

But their story doesn’t go like that.

Two weeks later Karina, Campbell, Dino (my favorite assistant and boyfriend) and I drove to Green Lake where Karina would take photos of Dino and I, and I would take photos of her and Campbell.

The leaves were bright yellow, the sun was golden and glowing; it was a perfect backdrop for the event that was about to take place.

As I fumbled with my camera settings, Campbell kept Karina distracted while trying to hide the ring box that blatantly occupied his back left pocket. He turned to Karina and she instantly knew. They laughed, they smiled, they cried, they hugged, they kissed, and then he was down on one knee. 

I’ve spent countless hours with Karina and Campbell; game nights, late nights downtown, and gatherings at the dinner table. I can promise you that when Karina, Campbell, Dino, and I are together there’s always great conversation happening and a bag of chips and salsa within an arm’s reach.

I couldn’t be any more thrilled for my best friends as they spend the rest of their lives together. Karina and Campbell, thank you for letting me be apart of this season of your lives.
