Sole Repair, Capitol Hill Gay Wedding

I met Maya first as she got out of her car. I could tell she was struggling to keep her emotions together, and I told her “don’t worry, as soon as you see Amelia, you’re going to be okay.” She smiled, took a deep breath and nodded. I’ve realized that most of those wedding jitters go away as soon as you see your person.

Amelia and Maya exchanged vows at Fairview Park with their most loving and supportive friends and family standing with them. It was a sweet little ceremony that made you smile, but also pulled at your heartstrings as they read their vows.

The reception was held at the Sole Repair in Capitol Hill and that’s where I had the best tacos of my life. (I think I say that every time I have tacos on a wedding day because I’m so hungry and tacos are my jam). The speeches were my favorite part (yes, better than the tacos). It wasn’t rehearsed, and no one was trying to put on a show. Everything was true and sincere, and you could tell how much love they had for Maya and Amelia.

Maya and Amelia, thank you again for letting me in on your special day. I wish you many more years to celebrate in the future.
